What is the Wild Child Club?

A small group of home-educated children (age from 6 to 11 years old) spend alternate Friday afternoon studying wildlife and having fun in the one of our nature reserves. This club has been running for four years and some of its eleven-year olds have been members since they were six.

Contact us if you wish your child to become a member or join us for for a sample session. Vacancies only occure when an existing member leaves. You child can be added to the waiting lists if no place is immediately available..

Where does it take place?

Noakes Grove nature reserve,

Sewards End from 2pm to 4pm (1:30pm - 3:30pm in winter)

 

How do I get there?

By car to Redgates Lane (opposite the village hall Sewards End)

The nature reserve has a signed gate and there is an off-road car park

Can I use the bus?

Yes. The sessions are timed to fit the bus times. Bus 320 from Audley End & Walden arrives at 1:38pm. Homeward buses leave at 15:58 and 16:58

Do I have to stay with my child during the session?

No

What does it all cost?

Nothing (Donations welcome)

What will the children do?

  • Catch, alive, some field mice, moths and pond life
  • Learn to identify butterflies and then do a timed butterfly count .
  • Meet (and feed) the sheep
  • Tour the reserve and learn about it's history
  • Many other activities (all year round for home-educated children)
  • Freeplay sessions without close adult supervision
