Music while you work - the lunchtime concert at the May Sunday work party

Two of our directors (and enthusiastic members of the sheep team) have as their other hobby being part of a group of musicians. Both groups treated us to a very enjoyable lunchtime concert at our May Noakes Grove work party,
The Bumpstead Bojangles (David Buckley and friends) were able to plug their electric instruments into our solar powered mains voltage electricity. Their varied repertoire included at least one successful Eurovision winner (unlike this year's UK entry).

The Walden Buskers (Peter Savic and friends) opened the show with mainly traditional folk songs and acoustic accompaniment,
All in all a great event: more music and less mud than Glastonbury.

Stone Age Girl helps Noakes Grove
The Friday Wild Child Group, who continued their weekly meetings by Zoom during the worst of the lockdown, amused themselves by listening to a new chapter of a book and then discussing how the story shoud continue the followng week.
The book, written by Wild Child leader David Corke with the help of the Wild Child group is now published and all royalties from its sale will go to help the Wild Child Group and Noakes Grove Nature Reserve.

Lambing News
Our breeding flock has had its best ever year: ignoring Amy who has never managed to get pregnant, our seven ewes have produced 14 lambs: two sets of triplets, three pairs of twins and two single lambs.
Twenty-two mouths are getting through a lot of grass and part of the flock will probably migrate to Kings Field sometime this moonth.

Wild Child - now 30 kids
As well as the weekly Friday Wild Child group for home-educated children we now have two new groups who meet fortnightly at out-of-school times (Saturday afternoons and Tuesday late afternoons) so these sessions are open to school-educated children. All three groups are now full (normally ten children per group) but you can add your 6-9 year-old to the waiting list if you wish.
We are in sore need of a wild-child club assistant leader. Do you know a bit about nature study and enjoy the company of children? Come and sample one or two sessions and see if you enjoy the experience. Just email david@walden-countryside.co.uk for more information.

Car park
The much improved car park has acquired some yellow lines that, if not ignored, will ensure that ar least five cars will be able to use the hard-surface car parking area. In dry weather, there is plenty of extra space on the grassy area behind the main notice board.
Forest School Log Rings
Please don't move the logs about but you are welcome to use the rings with your children when no class is in progress. |
