AGM by EMAIL

Thank you to all the shareholders who cast their votes by email. The Accounts and CIC report for the year ended 31 Jan 2020 were agreed unanimously and the minutes of last year's AGM agreed by everyone who had attended that meeting. These documents may be downloaded from our "About Us" page. David Wrigley stood down as a director. We would like to extend our thanks to him for all his help and look forward to his continued presence at our work parties. The remaining seven directors stood for re-election and there were two nominations for new directors: David Buckley and Peter Savic. These nine candidates were elected unopposed (the maximum number of directors being ten).

Here's hoping that for AGM 2021 we will once more meet in person around a barbeque at Noakes Grove.

Work Partying Again - Sunday August 16th - Noakes Grove - 10.00am onwards

TCV (The Conservation Volunteers - the society that organises our insurance) advises that it is now OK for conservation work parties to start again as long as they follow the same anti-COVID practices that employers would use when working with groups of outdoor employees. In our case this would involve maintaining 2 metre social distancing, not sharing food or drink preparation and not sharing tools without disinfecting them between users or wearing gloves.

Our first of the new season's work parties will concentrate on clearing the burdock and bindweed from the hedge that separates Noakes Grove from Redgates Lane and finding the saplings and their protective tubes that we planted there.

We may also have time to start constructing a log-store from our stock of old pallets.

If at all possible, please email us to sayyouhope to join thework party. We will then be able to ltyouknow the current Lockdown rules for ope-air work parties immediately before Aug 16th. Please email info@organic-countryside.co.uk

Wild Child Butterfly Counts

The two Noakes Grove Wild Child groups took part in the national Big Butterfly Count. The Wednesday group walked through farmland to Martins Wood while the Friday Group walked most of the paths in Noakes Grove. The Wednesday group had great excitement when they saw three silver-washed fritillaries and managed to net one of them. In addition, the Friday group caught a small heath and a brown argus:all three of those species were missing from the Big Butterfly Count chart because they are quite rare,
