Logs

Wood from hedgerows, scrublands and woodlands

At all three of our reserves we need to manage the hedgerows, scrub and woodland trees for conservation (and safety). As part of our Countryside Stewardship grants we have a system of rotational coppicing on the Noakes Grove scrublands and have been able to re-instate the coppicing of roadside hedgerows at both Noakes Grove and Ellis Green.

In addition, trees and branches which fall in high winds, or have dangerous dead branches, have to be made safe.

All this produces large amounts of cut wood, some of which we leave in piles for the benefit of wildlife and the rest is cut into manageable sized logs and stored to season before sale for use in wood-burning stoves.

We expect the first sacks of logs to be on sale in the winter in 2021
